Who we are

The Make Renting Fair Alliance is a coalition of Western Australia’s peak bodies, service providers, unions, and people who rent their homes.

We are working together for safe, secure, healthy and affordable homes for over 700,000 West Australian renters.

Our wins so far

We’ve been campaigning to make renting fair in Western Australia since 2019, when the review of the Residential Tenancies Act first started.

Since then, we’ve worked with our alliance to:

  • Reduce the frequency of rent increases to once a year
  • Ban rent bidding
  • Allow pets in rentals
  • Allow minor modifications such as hanging a picture, and
  • Streamline the bond disposal process

But it doesn’t end here.

Right now, we’re in the worst rental crisis we’ve ever experienced.  The changes needed to provide security, safely and stability for renters are still to come.

That’s why we’ll keep fighting to secure our Vision for Renters – including ending no grounds evictions, securing minimum standards, and stabilising spiralling rents.

We can only do this work thanks to the generous support of our alliance members. To find out more about our members and how you can get involved,  visit here;
